Angela I. Jöstlein
Born in Berlin, Germany. Earned degree in
Social Work at the Staedtische Hochschule Muenchen.
Moved to the USA in 1970. Started to teach
German Language Classes for adults at Fermilab for scientists
and their families. Taught a class on German Lanuguage and
Culture to 6th graders in public schools. Was asked in May
1996 to take over the German Language School for DANK Fox
Valley. During that time this school grew from a small number
of students to over 90 students each year, offering many different
classes, from small children to adults. Opened a second location
to serve people in the West Chicago area, Hired and worked
with several excellent teachers.
Was selected for a Goethe Institute Scholarship for a
two-week immersion Seminar in Goettingen / Germany.
Presented talks on her teaching methods at large
education conferences. Organized many extracurricular activities
for her classes, e.g. vists to the Chritkindlmarket, the Science
and Industry Museum, participation in the Naperville Labor
Day parade, plays, and musical performances.
Angela works now with the new Naperville
Cultural Center, to set up a German Language Program and to
organize German classes. The mission of the classes will be
to make both German Language and German Culture accessible
to all age groups at all levels of expertise.
